The Upper Minnetonka Yacht Club (UMYC) has operated a family oriented sailing yacht club since 1965.  Over the last ten years it is estimated that UMYC has touched the lives of over 500 individuals that participate in sailboat racing or attending club sponsored functions.

The Upper Minnetonka Sailing School (UMSS) offers sailing lessons to adults from UMYC at the club’s marina located at 4580 Enchanted Point Road in Shorewood MN.  Over the last two years UMSS trained over 120 sailors from this facility using their UMSS owned sailboat and a leased sailboat.

The funds raised in this campaign will be used to insure the sailing school will be able to continue operations at the UMYC marina.  It is anticipated that dues from students and other UMSS fundraising will cover all operating costs of the sailing school.

Contributors will be recognized on a special website (www.FutureSail2000.org) established for this fundraising.  A printed list will also be published in late January for 2009 donations.  Contributors will be recognized by name at the UMYC property and names will be engraved in dock sections for all contributions over $500.  Contributors may remain anonymous by request.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 in a 12 month period beginning in December 2009, with donations and pledges collected over the next 5 years.  Your contribution will be greatly appreciated.
